Responsibilities
- Manage pension fund administration including member contributions, benefit calculations, and disbursements
- Ensure strict compliance with ERISA, IRS, and Michigan state pension regulations
- Process retirement applications and provide member education on pension options
- Analyze financial data and prepare quarterly fund performance reports
- Collaborate with auditors and legal counsel for annual compliance reviews
- Maintain accurate member records in pension administration software
- Respond to member inquiries regarding pension benefits and policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in pension plan administration or public finance
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) designation preferred
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Omega)
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and Michigan pension laws
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong communication abilities for member education and stakeholder interactions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a hybrid environment
