Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritize incidents, and dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS resources
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and maintain accurate incident documentation
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during critical situations
- Monitor radio communications and coordinate multi-agency responses
- Perform data entry and maintain detailed case records
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA/GDPR compliance standards
- Participate in continuous training to enhance emergency response skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph examination, and drug screening
- Excellent communication skills with clear diction in high-stress scenarios
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn complex dispatch software
- Ability to multitask and make critical decisions under pressure
- Valid Virginia driver's license with clean record
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (will be tested)
- No felony convictions and clean credit history
