Responsibilities
- Receive and accurately document emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch appropriate police units using CAD systems while maintaining radio protocols
- Perform multitasking across multiple communication channels simultaneously
- Provide life-saving instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident reports with strict confidentiality
- Coordinate with other agencies (EMS, Fire) during multi-incident scenarios
- Complete mandatory training modules to achieve full dispatcher certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 18 years of age
- U.S. citizenship and valid Texas driver's license
- Ability to pass comprehensive background investigation and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 95% accuracy
- Exceptional communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm and decisive during high-stress situations
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
