Responsibilities
- Manage Pension Calculations: Oversee the accurate calculation and disbursement of retirement benefits for active and retired public employees.
- Member Advisory: Provide exceptional service to members regarding eligibility, vesting, and benefit projections through phone, email, and in-person consultations.
- Record Auditing: Conduct regular audits of member records to ensure data accuracy and compliance with OPERS/STRS guidelines.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on changes in state and federal pension laws, ensuring all processes adhere to current legislation.
- Data Analysis: Generate and analyze reports to forecast liabilities and ensure the financial health of the pension fund.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR departments and actuaries to resolve complex benefit discrepancies and process corrections.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in public sector benefits administration, actuarial science, or pension plan management.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with ERP systems or pension administration software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with a meticulous approach to data entry and financial reporting.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CFP, FPC) are a plus but not required.
