Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plans including daily transaction processing, contribution calculations, and benefit disbursements
- Ensure compliance with federal ERISA regulations, Ohio Revised Code, and IRS guidelines
- Provide comprehensive pension counseling to state employees and retirees regarding retirement options, survivor benefits, and plan amendments
- Develop and maintain accurate pension records, financial reports, and actuarial documentation
- Collaborate with state agencies, auditors, and external vendors to resolve pension-related inquiries and discrepancies
- Implement daily pay processing systems for pension disbursements to ensure timely employee compensation
- Conduct periodic plan reviews and recommend optimization strategies for long-term sustainability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or retirement planning
- Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, QPA, or CRC) or willingness to obtain within 12 months
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, HRIS systems, and pension administration software
- Deep understanding of federal/state pension regulations, fiduciary responsibilities, and daily pay compliance
- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and legal documents
- Strong communication abilities for presenting technical information to diverse stakeholders
- Ohio residency required (or willingness to relocate within 90 days of hire)
