Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans with precision, including benefit calculations, disbursements, and record maintenance
- Ensure strict adherence to ERISA, IRS, and California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) regulations
- Conduct comprehensive audits and financial reporting for pension fund assets exceeding $500M
- Develop and implement strategic retirement plan enhancements aligned with demographic trends
- Collaborate with HR departments to provide retirement counseling and education programs
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee third-party administration services
- Lead system upgrades for pension administration software to enhance operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Actuarial Science, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in government or regulated environments
- Deep expertise in ERISA, IRS 415/416 regulations, and CalPERS compliance
- Advanced proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Oracle HCM)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and risk assessment
- Professional certification (ASPPA, QKA, or CFA) highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement across diverse communities
