Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for 50,000+ state employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and NC state statutes
- Process retirement applications and calculate benefit payments
- Manage participant inquiries and conduct benefit education workshops
- Analyze actuarial reports and recommend plan adjustments
- Collaborate with investment teams on portfolio performance reviews
- Prepare annual financial statements and regulatory filings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration
- 3+ years pension administration or benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or CEBS designation preferred
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and NC pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension software (e.g., Millennium, ProAdmin)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Excellent communication skills for participant education
- Experience with weekly payroll processing systems
