Responsibilities
- Manage pension plan operations including eligibility verification, benefit calculations, and retirement processing
- Ensure compliance with federal (ERISA), state (CalPERS), and local pension regulations
- Develop and maintain accurate participant records using pension administration systems
- Prepare comprehensive reports for government stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory bodies
- Provide expert guidance to employees on retirement planning and pension options
- Conduct ongoing plan reviews to identify and mitigate financial risks
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams on policy updates and legislative changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, Actuarial Science, or related field
- 5+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience in public sector
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and California pension laws
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., CalPERS systems, PeopleSoft)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in financial modeling and forecasting
- Excellent communication abilities for explaining complex benefits concepts
- Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, QKA, or CPA) preferred
- Ability to manage confidential data with highest ethical standards
