Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans for Virginia public sector employees, including calculation of benefits, processing retirements, and managing member accounts
- Ensure strict compliance with federal ERISA regulations, Virginia state statutes, and VRS governing policies
- Conduct complex benefit calculations and projections for diverse retirement scenarios
- Provide expert guidance to members, employers, and stakeholders on pension policies and procedures
- Develop and deliver educational workshops on retirement planning and benefit options
- Analyze pension fund data and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with investment and actuarial teams to align pension strategies with financial objectives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or financial services
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and Virginia pension statutes
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., UltiPro, PeopleSoft) and MS Office Suite
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data and regulations
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Professional certification (e.g., CEBS, CCP, or CFA) preferred
- Experience with public sector retirement systems highly desirable
