Responsibilities
- Manage daily pension fund operations including contributions, distributions, and record maintenance
- Ensure strict compliance with ERISA, IRS, and CalPERS regulations
- Prepare actuarial valuations and comprehensive financial reports for city council review
- Oversee participant communications regarding retirement benefits and plan amendments
- Collaborate with external auditors and investment advisors for fund performance optimization
- Develop and implement pension policy improvements aligned with municipal objectives
- Lead system migration to next-generation pension administration software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience with public sector or large multi-employer plans
- Advanced knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and CalPERS requirements
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or ASPPA designation preferred
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, UltiPro)
- Experience with actuarial reporting and financial modeling tools
- Strong analytical skills with attention to fiduciary compliance details
- Ability to communicate complex pension concepts to diverse stakeholders
