Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans for 2,500+ county employees
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Texas state pension laws
- Process retiree applications and coordinate benefit distributions
- Analyze financial data and prepare actuarial reports for quarterly reviews
- Manage participant communications and conduct annual enrollment meetings
- Collaborate with auditors and legal counsel during annual compliance reviews
- Maintain accurate pension records in county HRIS system
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Public Administration
- 3+ years of pension administration or benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation preferred
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, FIS)
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 415 limits, and Texas pension statutes
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion
