Responsibilities
- Administer pension plan benefits including retirement calculations, survivor benefits, and disability claims
- Ensure strict compliance with federal and state pension regulations (ERISA, IRS, CalPERS)
- Develop and implement pension policies aligned with fiduciary standards and best practices
- Manage member communications regarding plan changes, eligibility, and retirement options
- Analyze financial data and prepare actuarial reports for board presentations
- Collaborate with HR departments on employee onboarding and retirement transitions
- Conduct audits to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or related field
- 5+ years of pension plan administration experience in public/government sector
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) preferred
- Expert knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and California pension laws
- Advanced proficiency in pension software (e.g., Millennium, PeopleAdmin)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
