Responsibilities
- Administer and optimize pension fund investments in compliance with ERISA and California state regulations
- Conduct complex financial modeling and actuarial valuations for retirement plans
- Develop and implement strategic pension plan policies aligned with long-term sustainability goals
- Coordinate with external auditors, legal counsel, and investment advisors during annual reviews
- Manage participant communications regarding retirement benefits, eligibility, and plan modifications
- Analyze market trends and regulatory changes to recommend proactive adjustments to fund strategy
- Prepare comprehensive reports for city council and pension board meetings
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of pension plan administration or retirement benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation required
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Albridge, Millennium) and financial modeling tools
- Deep understanding of CalPERS regulations and municipal pension governance
- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Experience presenting technical information to non-financial stakeholders
