Responsibilities
- Administer municipal pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit disbursements, and compliance reporting
- Conduct comprehensive retirement counseling sessions for city employees and retirees
- Maintain accurate participant records using SAP HRIS and pension management systems
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Washington State pension laws
- Analyze plan data to forecast funding requirements and recommend adjustments
- Collaborate with auditors during annual compliance reviews and financial examinations
- Develop educational materials on retirement planning for city employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement plan experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Certified Retirement Administrator (CRA) preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and HRIS systems (SAP experience a plus)
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/403(b) regulations, and Washington State pension statutes
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to complex financial calculations
- Ability to work independently during night shift hours with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for participant education
