Responsibilities
- Administer state pension plans, including eligibility verification, benefit calculations, and retirement processing
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations (ERISA, IRS codes, and Texas statutes)
- Manage participant communications, providing guidance on retirement planning and policy changes
- Analyze financial data and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Collaborate with investment teams to align pension strategies with long-term sustainability goals
- Conduct audits and reviews to identify process improvements and mitigate risks
- Maintain accurate participant records using pension administration software
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration or benefits management experience
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Society of Actuaries (SOA) designation preferred
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Benefitfocus, Alight)
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(k)/457 regulations, and Texas pension laws
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong communication abilities for explaining complex retirement concepts
- Experience with state government financial reporting standards
