Responsibilities
- Manage and administer state pension plans, including processing contributions, calculating benefits, and maintaining accurate participant records
- Ensure compliance with federal ERISA regulations, Texas state laws, and internal pension policies
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding retirement benefits, distributions, and plan provisions during night shift hours
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports on fund performance, contribution levels, and participant demographics
- Collaborate with investment teams to align pension strategies with fiduciary responsibilities
- Conduct periodic audits of pension records and benefit calculations to identify discrepancies
- Stay current with legislative changes affecting public sector retirement systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in pension administration, benefits management, or financial planning
- Strong knowledge of ERISA, IRS regulations, and Texas pension statutes
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, CyberShift)
- Ability to work independently during night shift hours with minimal supervision
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for complex financial calculations
- Valid Texas driver's license and ability to travel to regional offices if required
