Responsibilities
- Administer defined-benefit pension plans including contribution calculations, benefit payments, and record maintenance
- Ensure strict adherence to ERISA, IRS regulations, and Colorado state pension laws
- Prepare financial reports, actuarial valuations, and compliance documentation for oversight boards
- Respond to member inquiries regarding retirement options, survivor benefits, and plan provisions
- Collaborate with auditors, legal counsel, and investment advisors during annual reviews
- Develop educational materials and workshops for retiring employees on pension benefits
- Monitor plan performance metrics and recommend adjustments to ensure long-term sustainability
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in pension plan administration or retirement benefits management
- Deep knowledge of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and Colorado Revised Statutes Title 24
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, NaviPlan)
- Certified Public Pension Administrator (CPPA) or SHRM-SCP designation preferred
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail and compliance accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder reporting
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced government environment
