Responsibilities
- Administer pension plans for 500,000+ public employees with meticulous attention to detail
- Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS codes, and Illinois Public Pension statutes
- Process retiree applications, benefit calculations, and survivor claims
- Conduct audits of employer contributions and member records
- Develop educational materials for public employees on retirement planning
- Collaborate with legislative teams on pension policy updates
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives for operational efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension administration or retirement benefits experience
- Proficiency in pension software (e.g., Millennium, Benefit Systems)
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(a), and Illinois Pension Code
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex regulations
- Excellent communication skills for public education and stakeholder management
- Professional designation (e.g., CEBS, QKA) strongly preferred
