Responsibilities
- Analyze member service records to determine pension eligibility and calculate benefits accurately in accordance with OPERS policies and state/federal regulations.
- Conduct comprehensive retirement plan reviews and provide detailed explanations to members regarding their projected income streams.
- Manage a high volume of incoming inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, resolving complex pension-related issues with patience and professionalism.
- Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all pension disbursements adhere to ERISA guidelines and internal control standards.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for all pension cases, ensuring data integrity across the department’s database systems.
- Participate in the development and delivery of training materials for new staff and assist in the continuous improvement of pension administration processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pension administration, government benefits, or actuarial support is strongly desired.
- Deep understanding of ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) and Oklahoma state retirement laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, Outlook) and experience with pension administration software (e.g., SAP, Ceridian, or similar) is mandatory.
- Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, capable of explaining complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
