We are urgently hiring a highly skilled Pension Plan Specialist to join the Texas State Government team in Houston. Responsibilities
- Perform complex actuarial valuations and financial projections for the state pension fund.
- Analyze demographic trends and funding status to recommend strategies for long-term plan solvency.
- Prepare and review detailed quarterly and annual reports for the State Board of Insurance and the Comptroller’s Office.
- Ensure strict compliance with Texas Government Code, federal ERISA regulations, and pension funding laws.
- Communicate complex financial data and policy changes clearly to retirees, stakeholders, and agency leadership.
- Collaborate with IT and compliance teams to maintain and update pension management systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in pension administration, actuarial analysis, or public sector finance.
- Actuarial Science designation (ASA, EA, or FSA) is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VBA and complex formulas.
- Strong knowledge of government budgeting processes and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
