Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, providing accurate information and dispatching appropriate units
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Remain calm and composed during crisis situations, including medical emergencies and criminal incidents
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities using standardized protocols
- Coordinate with police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel for seamless response
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Adhere to all department policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening
- Strong typing skills (minimum 30 WPM) with computer proficiency
- Exceptional communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to multitask and make sound decisions under pressure
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
