Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate police units
- Operate communication systems including radios and computer-aided dispatch (CAD)
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Accurately document call details and maintain incident logs
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during critical incidents
- Provide critical information to officers in the field
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance communication and crisis management skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM)
- Excellent communication and active listening abilities
- Ability to multitask and prioritize information under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid Texas driver's license
