Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency 911 calls with precision and empathy
- Operate multi-channel radio systems to dispatch police units and resources
- Maintain accurate CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) records and incident logs
- Coordinate with other agencies (Fire, EMS, Hospitals) during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Provide pre-arrival emergency medical instructions to callers
- Monitor security systems and alarm activations throughout the city
- Participate in continuous training on emergency protocols and technology
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid Florida driver's license
- Pass background investigation, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Ability to type 35+ WPM (tested during application process)
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure during emergencies
- Basic computer proficiency with willingness to learn specialized software
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
