Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with compassion and efficiency
- Dispatch police units to incidents using CAD systems and radio communications
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and activities
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during critical incidents
- Operate multi-line telephone systems and computerized dispatch equipment
- Provide crisis intervention and information to callers during emergencies
- Work collaboratively with law enforcement personnel in high-pressure situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to type 35+ words per minute (test provided)
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions during emergencies
- Basic computer proficiency (training provided)
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Flexible availability for rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
