Responsibilities
- Answer incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate radio communication systems to dispatch officers and emergency personnel
- Enter and maintain accurate call data in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Provide critical information and instructions to callers during emergency situations
- Coordinate with other agencies and departments during multi-agency responses
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications and activities
- Participate in ongoing training to develop advanced dispatching skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ words per minute
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure during emergency situations
- Basic computer literacy and willingness to learn specialized software
- Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen
- No felony convictions
