Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls from the public
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with precision
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation
- Coordinate with multiple agencies (fire, EMS, etc.) during emergencies
- Provide critical information to field personnel via radio
- Calmly de-escalate callers during high-stress situations
- Operate emergency communication equipment per protocol
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- U.S. citizenship and valid NM driver's license
- Pass background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Basic computer literacy and typing proficiency (40+ WPM)
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under extreme pressure
- Clear verbal/written communication skills
- No felony convictions and good credit history
- Must pass dispatcher entrance exam
