Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Dispatch appropriate units using CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) systems
- Remain calm and communicate clearly during high-stress situations
- Enter and maintain accurate incident data in RMS (Records Management System)
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers when applicable
- Monitor radio communications and maintain situational awareness
- Complete all required training modules to achieve certification
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum age 18 years at time of appointment
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass background investigation, polygraph, and medical examination
- Typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to multitask and make sound decisions under pressure
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
