Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls promptly and professionally
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with accuracy and speed
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Coordinate with other emergency services (fire, EMS) during critical incidents
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during emergencies
- Operate radio equipment and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Adhere to department policies and confidentiality protocols
- Complete all required training modules and certification requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and drug screen
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (verified through assessment)
- Strong multitasking and prioritization abilities
- Excellent communication skills in English (bilingual Spanish a plus)
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Must be at least 18 years old and a U.S. citizen
