Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD systems with 100% accuracy
- Dispatch police, fire, and EMS units efficiently during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed call logs and incident documentation per protocols
- Operate radio equipment and multi-line telephone systems simultaneously
- Apply de-escalation techniques and provide pre-arrival medical instructions
- Collaborate with cross-agency responders during multi-jurisdictional events
- Complete 12-week paid training program covering all operational procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Strong situational judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with multi-tasking in high-pressure environments
- Valid Louisiana driver's license with clean record
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer systems
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights/weekends
