Responsibilities

  • Receive and Process 911 Calls: Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and speed, accurately gathering critical information.
  • Dispatch Emergency Units: Coordinate the response of police, fire, and medical units using the CAD system.
  • Maintain Radio Communications: Monitor radio channels to ensure all units are informed of changing situations and traffic.
  • Enter Data Accurately: Log all calls, incidents, and unit movements into the computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system with high typing proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Experience: No prior dispatch experience required for Trainee status, but previous customer service experience is a major plus.
  • Skills: Exceptional typing skills (35+ WPM), strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • License: Valid Colorado Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Physical: Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive motions at a computer workstation.
