Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems with precise location and incident details
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation per department protocols
- Coordinate with other agencies (fire, EMS) during multi-incident responses
- Utilize radio communication to relay critical information to field units
- Remain calm and professional during high-stress emergency situations
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers for life-threatening scenarios
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Minimum 18 years of age; US citizenship or permanent residency
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM with 90% accuracy
- Ability to pass extensive background check and polygraph examination
- Clear speaking voice with excellent diction and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments with minimal supervision
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
- Valid Washington State driver's license upon hire
