Responsibilities
- Answer, screen, and process incoming emergency (911) and non-emergency calls for service with high accuracy and composure.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to emergency scenes using two-way radio and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Monitor and maintain a constant watch of city-wide surveillance systems and fire alarms.
- Provide information and assistance to citizens regarding police and fire services, traffic directions, and community resources.
- Enter and update incident reports, status changes, and warrant information into departmental databases.
- Perform multi-tasking duties while maintaining strict adherence to standard operating procedures and confidentiality protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; additional college coursework in criminal justice or communications is a plus.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute accurately.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Strong computer proficiency and ability to learn new software quickly.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and medical examination.
