Responsibilities
- Dispatch police units to emergency/non-emergency calls using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Operate multi-channel radio equipment and emergency notification systems
- Provide crisis intervention and critical information to callers
- Coordinate with fire/EMS agencies during multi-incident scenarios
- Participate in mandatory shift rotations and 24/7 coverage
- Complete all phases of dispatcher certification training
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree preferred)
- Minimum 40 WPM typing proficiency (verified test required)
- U.S. citizenship and DC residency (6+ months)
- Pass background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
- Basic computer literacy with Windows OS proficiency
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
