Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls with empathy and professionalism
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems and radio communications
- Enter and maintain accurate incident data in RMS databases
- Coordinate with fire, EMS, and other responding agencies
- Provide pre-arrival emergency instructions to callers
- Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Operate multi-line phone systems and emergency equipment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- U.S. citizenship and California residency
- Valid California Driver's License
- Ability to type 35+ WPM (tested during hiring process)
- Clear criminal background and driving record
- Fluent in English (bilingual Spanish strongly preferred)
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights/holidays
- Pass comprehensive background investigation and polygraph
