Responsibilities
- Answer and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls with professionalism and urgency
- Operate CAD/RMS systems to dispatch police units and track incident status
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incident reports
- Coordinate with EMS, Fire, and other agencies during multi-jurisdictional incidents
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers in medical or crisis situations
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA compliance standards
- Complete 12-week academy training covering dispatch protocols and crisis intervention
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Strong typing skills (minimum 40 WPM) and computer literacy
- Exceptional communication and de-escalation abilities
- Ability to remain calm under extreme pressure during emergencies
- Must be 18+ years old and a U.S. citizen
- Valid driver's license with clean record
- Availability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
