Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls, dispatching appropriate personnel and resources
- Operate radio systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Provide critical information to officers and community members during emergencies
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation
- Coordinate with multi-agency responders (fire, EMS) during complex incidents
- Complete state-mandated dispatcher certification training program
- Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and HIPAA regulations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Ability to multitask in fast-paced, high-stress environments
- Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills
- Proficient with computers and basic software applications
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and psychological evaluation
- Valid California driver's license (required post-training)
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (tested during application process)
