Join Minneapolis Police Department's elite Public Safety Communications team as a Police Dispatcher Trainee! This direct-hire position offers comprehensive training to become the vital lifeline connecting emergency responders with citizens in need. Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch police, fire, and emergency medical services to emergency and non-emergency calls
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications using CAD/RMS systems
- Provide critical information to field units during active incidents
- Operate multi-channel radio systems, telephones, and emergency alert equipment
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents and disasters
- Remain calm under extreme pressure while making time-sensitive decisions
- Assist the public with non-emergency inquiries and police-related information
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum 18 years of age at time of hire
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work
- Pass comprehensive background check, polygraph, and drug screening
- Typing proficiency of 40+ WPM with 90% accuracy
- Ability to multitask in high-stress environments
- Basic computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
