Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls using multi-line telephone systems and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire, and EMS units during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and activities per department protocols
- Utilize radio systems to transmit clear, concise information to field personnel
- Perform data entry and maintain confidential records in compliance with privacy laws
- Operate specialized equipment including NCIC and state crime databases
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques during high-stress situations
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Florida Driver's License (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
- U.S. citizenship and minimum 18 years of age
- Pass comprehensive background investigation, polygraph, and drug screening
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute (WPM) with accuracy
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
- Successfully complete departmental training academy and certification requirements
