Responsibilities
- Receive, prioritize, and dispatch emergency calls for police, fire, and medical services
- Operate computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communications equipment
- Maintain detailed records of incidents and communications per department protocols
- Provide crisis intervention and calm guidance to callers during emergencies
- Coordinate with multiple agencies including law enforcement, fire, and EMS
- Train on advanced systems including NCIC/CCIC database access and 911 protocols
- Participate in shift rotations and emergency response drills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework preferred)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to pass background investigation and polygraph examination
- Clear speaking voice with excellent communication skills
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
