Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units using CAD/RMS systems
- Maintain detailed logs and records of all communications
- Provide critical information to field personnel and other agencies
- Remain calm under pressure during high-stress emergency situations
- Operate radio systems and specialized communication equipment
- Multi-task between multiple information streams simultaneously
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM (certified test required)
- Valid California driver's license
- U.S. citizenship or legal resident status
- Pass extensive background investigation and polygraph
- Ability to pass medical/psychological evaluations
- No felony convictions and clean driving record
- Fluent English proficiency (bilingual Spanish highly desirable)
