Responsibilities
- Monitor police radio frequencies and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems to receive and process emergency 911 calls.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical units to the scene of incidents efficiently and accurately.
- Coordinate the movement and location of patrol units to ensure officer safety and rapid response times.
- Maintain accurate, detailed logs and records of all incoming calls, dispatches, and unit activities.
- Provide critical information to incoming callers, assisting with directions and calming distressed individuals.
- Collaborate with other public safety agencies and emergency services to ensure a unified response.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid North Carolina Driverβs License with a safe driving record.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to type at least 35 words per minute.
- Strong decision-making skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous experience in a customer service or emergency response role is a plus but not required.
