As a trainee, you'll learn to operate multi-channel radio systems, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software, and crisis management tools. Our program combines classroom instruction with hands-on simulation to prepare you for real-world scenarios. Successful candidates will transition to full dispatcher roles upon completion of the training program.
Responsibilities
- Answer emergency/non-emergency calls and dispatch police/fire/EMS units
- Operate radio systems and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during critical incidents
- Maintain accurate logs of all communications and activities
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major emergencies
- Monitor multiple channels and prioritize calls based on severity
- Complete all required training modules and certification exams
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM
- Ability to pass background check and psychological evaluation
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Ability to work rotating shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm under high-pressure situations
