Responsibilities
- Process emergency and non-emergency calls with accuracy and compassion
- Operate radio systems to dispatch police, fire, and medical units
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Utilize CAD systems and mapping technology for efficient resource deployment
- Provide critical information to first responders during incidents
- Remain calm and professional during critical incidents and high-stress scenarios
- Adhere to all department policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Ability to type 40+ words per minute (typing test required post-application)
- Excellent communication and active listening skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environments
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- U.S. citizenship and valid California driver's license
- Pass thorough background investigation and drug screening
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanor offenses
