Responsibilities
- Answer emergency and non-emergency calls, gathering critical information and dispatching appropriate resources
- Operate Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and radio communication equipment
- Maintain accurate call logs and incident documentation per department protocols
- Coordinate with multiple agencies including fire, EMS, and law enforcement during critical incidents
- Remain calm under pressure while making rapid decisions in high-stress situations
- Provide pre-arrival instructions to callers during medical or crisis events
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding emergency communications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum typing speed of 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Ability to pass background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Clear speaking voice with excellent verbal communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn specialized software quickly
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Valid California Driver's License with good driving record
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
