Responsibilities
- Process 911 and non-emergency calls with accuracy and empathy
- Dispatch police units using CAD/RMS systems during critical incidents
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and activities
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during emergencies
- Provide critical information to field personnel and the public
- Operate radio equipment and computer-aided dispatch systems
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel upon completion of program
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Valid Indiana driver's license with clean driving record
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (will be tested)
- US citizenship and Indiana residency required
- Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor domestic violence charges
- Strong situational judgment and stress management skills
