Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, accurately gathering essential information.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel to incidents using two-way radio and Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Maintain precise logs and records of all calls, unit status, and incident reports.
- Monitor closed-circuit television (CCTV) feeds and alert officers to suspicious activities.
- Provide clear and concise directions to callers during emergencies to ensure safe arrival.
- Collaborate with other agencies and support units during multi-agency responses.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of incoming dispatch personnel.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Valid California Class C Driverβs License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute with high accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to de-escalate tense situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn complex dispatch software quickly.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under extreme pressure.
