Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming emergency and non-emergency calls efficiently and accurately.
- Dispatch law enforcement, fire, and EMS units to locations based on incident information.
- Enter and maintain accurate incident reports and data in computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems.
- Monitor radio frequencies and maintain constant situational awareness of city resources.
- Provide critical information to officers in the field to ensure operational success.
- Handle high-stress situations with composure and professional judgment.
- Assist in training new dispatch personnel during the trainee program.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; post-secondary education in criminal justice or emergency services is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong typing skills and computer proficiency.
- Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure in emergency situations.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screen, and medical evaluation.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends as required.
