Responsibilities
- Process emergency calls and dispatch appropriate police/fire/EMS units with precision
- Maintain detailed logs of all communications and incidents using CAD systems
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to callers in distress
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during critical incidents
- Operate radio equipment and maintain constant situational awareness
- Assist in training new dispatchers through mentorship programs
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
- Minimum 40 WPM typing proficiency with high accuracy
- Valid New York State driver's license
- Clear background check and drug screening
- Ability to multitask in high-pressure environments
- Proficient with computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
