Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize emergency/non-emergency calls via 911 and administrative lines
- Dispatch police units using CAD systems with accuracy and efficiency
- Maintain detailed logs and documentation of all communications
- Coordinate with multiple agencies during critical incidents
- Operate radio equipment and computer systems simultaneously
- Provide clear, concise instructions to callers during emergencies
- Adhere to department protocols and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED required)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Typing speed of 40+ WPM (tested during application)
- US citizenship and valid Tennessee driver's license
- No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors
- Ability to multitask under high-pressure situations
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
- Must pass psychological evaluation and physical fitness test
