Responsibilities
- Process emergency/non-emergency calls with calm precision and cultural sensitivity
- Operate multi-channel radio systems and CAD software during critical incidents
- Dispatch HPD units and emergency services with GPS-optimized routing
- Maintain accurate call logs per NENA standards and HPD protocols
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during natural disasters or major events
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to callers
- Train on new technologies including AI-assisted dispatch protocols
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in Hawaii
- Typing speed minimum 40 WPM with 95% accuracy
- Pass comprehensive background check, polygraph, and psychological evaluation
- Fluent English proficiency; additional Hawaiian/Pidgin beneficial
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights/holidays
- Valid Hawaii driver's license with clean record
- No felony convictions or domestic violence restraining orders
